The University of Ottawa, in Canada, opened the call for scholarships for global researchers. Its objective is to work together with other institutions in the world. This is the Visiting Researchers Program , of the International Office of Research, OIR, for its acronym in English.
This opportunity offers a two (2) week stay. Likewise, between twenty-five (25) and twenty-seven (27) visit scholarships will be awarded, with a total budget of USD 100,000 for the occasion.
Conditions to apply for one of the research scholarships
This call has a double focus. This way you will accept:
- Researchers who are part of priority institutions from six (6) countries. Which are: Israel, Japan, Taiwan. As well as Germany, France or Belgium.
- Or, those who are from six (6) additional countries, where collaborative institutions have not yet been established. These countries are: Argentina , Australia, Brazil, India, South Africa and South Korea.
In both cases, one application per faculty member will be accepted.
Likewise, those who have received the OIR fund must demonstrate how their collaboration is different from what they have done in the past.
Conditions of stay
Each of the visits must occur before March 31, 2021. Preferably in the fall or winter of the academic quarter. This is to maximize the impact of the visit on the graduate students. As well as the availability of researchers from the University of Ottawa.
Furthermore, the room cannot be divided into two (2). In addition to conducting research , fellows are expected to offer at least one (1) sehttps://cusfinance.com/minar or public conference.
Researchers are also expected thttps:https://cusfinance.com///cusfinance.com/o play an important intellectual role in the community to improve classroom activities or new areas of research.
At the end of the experience, in a period of no more than one (1) month afterward, the guest and the inviter will be required to send financial and narrative reports.
How to apply for one of the scholarships?
The application must be submitted by a faculty member of the University of Ottawa, who invites another researcher. Some of the requested documents are:
- An application form that pleases:
- A detailed description of the researcher’s interests.
- A schedule of planned activities.
- A budget, with notes and justifications.
- A letter of support from the dean or vice dean of the faculty, mentioning the rationale for inviting said researcher. You should also include the impact your visit would have on students and research.
- A curriculum vitae of the person requesting the visit and the visitor.
- Also, a completed and signed form .

Selection criteria
To choose the beneficiaries, the following will be taken into account:
- Excellence in research carried out. They can be: publications, monographs, international recognition, among others.
- Impact on new collaborations.
- Also, the complementarity of who invites and who is invited. This is to generate multidisciplinary perspectives.
- Impact of student training and other research results.
- Budget justification.
- As well as compatibility with strategic and priority areas of study of the University.
Benefits
The total budget is USD 100,000, and between twenty-five (25) and twenty-seven (27) visiting scholarships are expected to be awarded. Each of them must last ten (10) days. And the maximum budget per visit is USD 3,500.
On the other hand, each scholarship covers:
- Air travel costs.
- Local transportation.
- Accommodation.
- As well as a daily stipend for the period in which the scholarship recipient is in Ottawa.
- However, the salary will be paid by the institution where you work in your country of origin.
Other conditions are that:
- Under no circumstances can the visitor receive a fee.
- Nor can the funds be used to purchase software or other equipment.
- Not for trips or conferences outside of Ottawa.
